1. Shakespeare Probably Smoked Marijuana

Back in World War II, the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was looking into potential truth serums to use on German soldiers. After testing a very strong joint on a mafia associate in 1943, marijuana was used as truth serum up until 1947.

7. George Washington Grew Hemp

The first president of the United States grew hemp. George Washington cultivated hemp for its industrial uses at Mount Vernon.

Although the plant wasn’t cultivated for smoking purposes, it was used for its hemp fibers. These were used to repair fishing nets and make clothes. 

8. The Chilean Mining Disaster

In 2010, 33 miners were trapped underground for a total of 69 days when a copper-gold mine caved in. To help those who were trapped deal with the stressful situation, locals smuggled cannabis down to them. At one point Chilean officials considered using sniffer dogs to intercept the parcels of cannabis that were being sent down.

It’s believed that cannabis was used for several medical purposes in Ancient Egypt. Treatments included glaucoma, earaches, inflammation, and swelling. But of all the best cannabis uses, it has to go to the fact that they also used it to administer enemas.
