5 Healthy Habits to Add Into Your Daily Routine

Living a healthier existence doesn’t mean you have to turn your life upside down. There are lots of little things you can do to improve your overall health and well-being.

Instead of stressing over big changes that might be out of your control, practice these five healthy habits to begin transforming your life.

1. Five Mindfulness Minutes

Meditation has been shown to improve mental and physical health. It is also known to increase daily performance and focus.

Although fifteen minutes is the ideal minimum, even as little as five minutes a day can begin to trigger positive change. Once you have worked that into your routine, you can build up to longer sessions and maximize results.

2. Drink More Water

Dehydration is the number one cause of mid-day fatigue. This is because water is essential for all metabolic functions. Making a conscious effort to drink more throughout the day is one of the easiest healthy habits you can do.

A simple trick to keep track of your daily intake is to fill up a 32oz water bottle. Set a goal to drink the entire thing before lunch. Then refill it and drink finish that off before dinner to get a full eight glasses a day.

3. Get Your Daily Dose of Veggies

Having a variety of vegetables in your diet is one of the most important healthy habits you can incorporate into your lifestyle. Vegetables have multiple benefits, including:

  • Reducing the risk of heart disease
  • Reducing the chances of stroke
  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Preventing certain cancers
  • Balancing blood sugar
  • Lowering the risk of digestive issues
  • Enhancing weight loss

These tasty treats can be easily integrated into your diet. Instead of grabbing that bag of salty potato chips, munch on some carrots, celery, and hummus. Or, substitute a light salad with dinner for your customary starchy appetizer.

4. Take a Multivitamin

Even with a healthy diet, it’s not always possible to get all the vitamins and minerals you need. Taking a multivitamin each morning provides your body with all the essentials it requires to function.

This is a great healthy habit to get into, especially as you get older. Women in particular, often experience deficiencies in calcium, iron, and vitamin D. These imbalances can be accounted for by selecting a vitamin designed for women

5. Turn Off Your Phone

Getting a full night of sleep is vital when it comes to healthy living. Sleep quality impacts your weight, productivity, metabolism, mental health, and immune system.

Unfortunately, blue light from your phone or other electronic devices can inhibit your ability to fall into a deep and rejuvenating sleep. Start the healthy habit of turning off your electronic devices at least thirty minutes before bed. This allows your mind to settle, so you can slip seamlessly into dreamland.

Transform Your Life with Healthy Habits

Even little lifestyle changes can have a profound effect on your overall health and well-being. Use these five healthy habits as a foundation to living a fuller and healthier life.
